I mean...have you ever heard a teacher strictly saying "I am not your friend" to their class? Well I have and I don't mean to exaggerate assuming what that teacher said is only figurative, but don't you think it will send a negative message to their students? Follow me on this picture:
And if the teacher is downright strict..I doubt the students would have a good time sitting in the teacher's class. Well, I know a few teachers in my school who acquires a good reputation with their students, they did so by being a friendly sport with their class, thus they are treated much properly than the teachers who are otherwised. Anyone familiar with this theory: "In order for an educator to derive an attentive class..he/she must basically set up a good relationship with his/her students" Its true in so many ways. Well I'm not saying that teachers should'nt be strict with their students...no. It is inevitable of their strictness to part-in when they are teaching..but it is no harm to keep a good-sporting relationship between teachers and students. Come to think about it..whats the point of a teacher being furiously strict all the time? It would only spark hatred in the students' eyes.

I would disagree with your statement. There is a reason why teachers are so strict and it all comes down to teaching. Yes, teaching is why you go to school. It great if you become "friends" with your teachers but how many students want to stay in during their time off and visit the teacher. As you can understand, teachers are under pressure to teach all they can in those few hours you are in school so there really isn't any time to be socializing during class or being lenient with the students. It is a tough world out there and sadly teachers have to prepare you for it.
Let me correct you in your own statement.. You remarked:
"teaching is why you go to school"
-Well I say..teaching is why teachers go to school. STUDYING is why I, as a student, go to school.
"how many students want to stay in during their time off and visit the teacher" -Being friends with a teacher does'nt mean that the students have to loiter around with the teachers like they did with their friends. HECK NO!
You also said "there really isn't any time to be socializing during class or being lenient with the students" oh please..teachers teachig their sudents are socializing! teachers would talk to their students when rendering their teachings and it is not wrong for the teachers to sprinkle in some fun and good sportings in his.her class! being lenient? Heck-its up to the teachers.
What I stated in my post is 'friendly relationship between the teachers and his/her students' by this it would create a good bond between them. And this bond would shed interests in the student's eyes to learning what the teachers have educated!
A downright strict teacher can get all the attention he wants from the class by acting all furios. But what would the students think of him? won't the students feel hatred stinging their hearts?
Well I'm not trying to say that teachers shoud'nt be strict..no. it is inevitable of their stictness to part-in when they are teaching. but its no harm if they maintain a sporting-good relationship with the students.
It IS a tough world out there..but the teachers are'nt the one preparing us for it, they only act as guidance in our lives. We are the one who should prepare and brace ourselves for it!
