The Gone Series

So heres a thing about this post, its gonna make me sound like a total geek! lol. I can't believe I'm turning into one of those book worms that only feed on the words of the book they're reading. Okay I'm exaggerating, so what! :)

Among all the books that I've read, here's a personal favourite of mine:-

I've posted a review about this book last year. You can search for it in my post archive. So far, I have to say this is the best book I have ever laid my readings on. It was so great, that I had a second read on it this year. I guess this book only has it's effect on certain teenagers who enjoys sci-fi and all those alike. But I don't think adults would enjoy it that much.

Why? Because in the book (and they quote); "In the blink of an eye; Everyone disappears. GONE. Except for the young, Teens, Middle schoolers, Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened"

I mean, how attention catching is that? But the story doesn't end in that book. Theres a second installment:-

Doesn't make much of a surprise that I've already read this one too. Last month. It was one of the six books that I bought form Uk this year. I gave one to ZqahMesli cause I know she's more of a bookworm than I am. HA! Okay so anyway, this sequel is no match comparing to the first one. But still it made it to my list of must-read-again books. lol.

The storyline of this book is relatively different from the first as it gets much more disturbing, breath taking and more blood spilling. I mean, all the kids have gone totally wild and nuts what with the fact that some of them developed some kind of power that you can actually relate to the characters from the tv series: Heroes. According to the author, the book was inspired by Heroes, Lost and Lord of the flies by Stephen King. If you have actually watched those stuff, you might get a clear picture of how the book is.

But still, as good as it gets, the story still hasn't ended after two series of books. Because theres a third installment:-

And oh maaan! I haven't gotten this one! It's the latest series, published last month!

I want it! No, I need it! The fact that Stephen King, one of the most known author, has written a review saying that he actually loves this book, made it much more of a temptation for me to buy it's third installment this very instance. I was thinking of ordering online from ebay or amazon or something. Because I have no doubt that you cannot find the book in Brunei's Best Eastern. I've tried searching for the first two series in local bookstores, no luck. I ended up buying from some other country instead. lol.

Rumour has it that there's a fourth installment comming soon. It's called Plague. Can't wait :D

If you're ever interseted, just Google: The Gone Series and find a way to get it somehow. What? you think I was gonna say something like: "You can always borrow it from me?" Ofcourse not. HAA! Although I do have a few people waiting in line for me to lend them the books. Dream on people! lol. :p

Summer?

hellooooo holiday!

Oh god! Its been a hectic week, what with all the tensions and pressures of the mid-year exam. I have no doubt everyone at the point of still-schooling received their fair share of what I've just gone through. I'm telling you, this whole Year 10 syllabus is haaaard! although we've barely made it halfway. Now that its all over, atleast for this term, everyone especially moi' is relieved just to get our mind off those theories and calculations and just sit back, enjoy the holiday. And thank god our class doesn't have extra lessons over this holiday. Wohoo! :)

I haven't really planned anything to do though, its not like I've got one of those 1,001 things to do during this holiday, well other than watching my excessive collections of un-watched Dvds. ha! Or probably extending my guitar lesson via the internet or read my books (no not school books :p) Or maybe, the most important thing of all: Loosing my weight. Oh yeah, I'm also thinking of continuing my excerise at the bsrc gym, wow, been a whole month since I last did that. Hey, on second though, I do have alot of things to do. What do you know. lol. I was initially thinking of posting one of my book reviews today, but I found out I can't upload any pictures to my blog anymore. Why the heck is that? err. I'll try to see if I can fix that sooner or later.

So has anyone watched Glee ep. 20 yet? Well I have! :p It won't be in Starworld till another 2 weeks. But I'm telling ya, Glee was entertaining at it's best! The songs they covered in this episode are just awesome! Here's a clip:

I guess the Weekend-fun is just not working for anyone this week since we are all advised to stay at home or atleast wear safety-masks when going out due to the rapidly increased H1N1 disease in Brunei. Rumor also has it that schools are not going to open this Monday =/

Well..all those depressing factors ain't gonna stop me from having my fun with TV sensation! lol. I managed to find a video of Jim Carey singing Third eye blind's Jumper from his movie Yes Man!

Teachers For Life

I had an encounter with my old kidnergarden teacher a few days ago. We met at Bobby Chinn's live show at KB. So i took the advantage to greet her. From the looks of her face, i could tell, she was suprised. But then again i was the one who got really perplexed when she said ''How are you, Waly?'' Frankly, i thought she didnt know who i was at the first place. I mean come on-its been what? 10 years!! And seldomly i could see her after i gratuated to primary 1 as she retired not longer then.

Now thats what i call -Teachers' for life!!

So we started this conversation, talking bout how life's been lately. She said i've grown up. She barely recognized me but she did. Then she exploited a few jokes saying how'd if Bobby Chinn made ambuyat :P For an old timer, she still got the groove!

Book Review: Gone

The book was written by Michael Grant. One of the worlds best selling books of 2008. I've been craving for this book ever since i saw its first promotion in Harperteen. Now, i cant help myself from divulging the fact that the book is right here in front of me. Before i countinue a word longer in this post; i would like to thank my Uncle Ben for buying me the book from KL. Gracia's!

The book contains 576 pages, 47 chapters. Well, to be honest, i havent actually finished the book. hehe. I am currently in Chapter 5! Believe it or not. Gah! still a long way to go. But my experience through out the first 4 chapters was utterly engrossing. And i'll wonder what the other unread chapters will bring me next. Yeah! This is one bizzare book. Read the preview:

So...How'd it sound like. Im sure it will captivate the minds of teenagers. But i dont think some adults enjoy books like this. hehe. Well, my review (Throgh out the first 4 chapters i've read) : The story was full of suspense, suprises, expectations, hopes, mysteries, thrills. Anything you can imagine. But nontheless amusingly Funny!

I dont want to type much about my review, Because first thing: I havent read the whole book. I barely even reach a quater in statement. Secondly: This is my first time making a review on a book. Although its pretty unusual. Anyways..If my review isnt enough to captivate your minds. Hey wait, heres a fact:  Dont judge a book by looking at its cover. You judge it by its Trailer! Haha. Nah, im just kidding. But seriously, the book gots its own official trailer. Check it out!!

Make a change

2008. Was one of the remorseless unforgettable years i've ever had. My experiences through out the year was utterly awe. I will never forget the moments i've spent during my one month stay in London. Although the feeling of isolation conquered us for days when seeing Hari Raya began in Brunei but we were remotely far away and were not there to celebrate it like usual. Apart from that, i've learned so many things from last year. One of the things was; you cant never stop yourself from changing. And speaking of which, i've went through alot myself. Not just in character, but attitude. I felt eerie when i started going interested in reading books. Especially Sci-Fi' stories. I mean last time i checked i barely even set a foot inside the school library. huhu. Now i cant help divulging that i have one of the worlds best selling book [Gone written by Michael Grant] And that, links to some of the people's questions about my curiosity in books. I guess the best answer is changes; People change, So do i. And like i said: one can never stop changing themselves or in otherwords being perpetual. Currently i am in a situation of changing the whole look of my blog. But ended up discontent; lossing my links and few other widgets. Gah!! Just for information, i'll make another Link-list as soon as i got everyones URL back. Speaking of my years resolution. I'll try to make it simple; My resolution is 'Make a change' Yeahh its all about changes this year. Because by my looks of it, It can do so much to motivate life in 'ease' and not  living the same cycle every year.
